hello sir. thank you for your honest opinion about this issue .i was wondering if you could help me to recommend a decent mid-range phone around a55 budget price. what would you choose? i have watched many phone reviews and they all say great things about their product that they are advertising. i am so confused. i would appreciate if you could guide me. ( my chief priorities are : screen ,battery, storage of 512 gb or having a memory slot)
How about oppo f27 pro can u tell about this mobile Amoled screen but they mention lots specs 120hz dynamic refeesh rste for up to 2160hz high frequency PWD diming , protect your eye no matter in strong or low light. OPPO top five eye protection technologies . Can u tell me about this fone any one use this plesase tell me so im buy , im buy poco x4 gt but not available in my country
The video at last... drop Samsung, but I would like to emphasize to drop iphone as well
i am sorry to tell you that Xiaomi 14 ultra don't hav DC dimming option but 14 has as you mentioned, because I went to Xiaomi store today to check this. The following device checked and don't have option for DC dimming (Anti-flicker mode): 13T, 13T pro, All redmi series. i.e. only Xiaomi 14 has anti-flicker mode
I bought the Poco X4 GT thanks to this channel and I really enjoy it-no eyestrain at all. Unfortunately, a few days ago, it fell down the stairs and broke. So, I started searching again and came across a recommendation for the Xiaomi 14. Is its OLED screen with DC dimming as flicker-free and easy on the eyes as the LCD screen on the Poco?
I'm sorry to hear about your phone, I currently use Xiaomi 14 with DC-Dimming anti-flicker enabled and it's working well for me. Everyone's sensitivity is different and the only way to know is to try the device.
@@MoeZainal Excellent! I will buy it and test it. I hope it works for me. I really miss my Poco X4 GT. It wasn't premium, but it was good enough for me, and I was recovering my eye health. Right now, I'm using a loaner OLED phone and starting to experience eye strain again. Thanks for all the help!
@arturomty9969 anytime, I hope it works for you, keep in mind that you might experience some eyestrain/headaches when you first setup the device, try keeping the brightness at max until you are able to enable the DC-Dimming anti-flicker feature. Good luck buddy!
@@MoeZainal Thanks a lot for all the advice! I love your channel, btw!
@arturomty9969 thank you for the kind words 🙏🏼
I have noticed also that the black of the oled screen are just too strong witch creates too big contrast that also gives me a lot of eye strain. If you can I suggest also making the blacks more brighter has helped me a lot with oled eyestrain.
Use matte tempered glass
Fair warning... Don't go spending hundreds on a phone that promises a software feature. Oneplus removed it, so can all the others. Also, the Nothing Phone 1 was very good at launch, it didn't flicker. Then because the screens were breaking that way, they released an update that reduced max brightness and introduced PWM. This is so upsetting and has been an issue for years now. Got my first eye issues with the Oneplus 5T and since then I've also become very photosensitive, generally very sensitive to light. This should be taken more seriously, but sadly no business will benefit from catering to a minority. There have been hundreds of "success stories" on forums by now, about phones that seemingly worked for people. Guess what, all of the posters of those topics took their words back and went back to finding a phone. I'm willing to bet money that this Xiaomi will eventually stop working for your eyes.
God bless you for this video....I was just just thinking OLED panels will solve the nauseating, migraine n loss of balance that average LED panels have been giving me over the years. Ryt now m using an old 2009 LCD monitor and a window 7 laptop with ccfl LCD display panels. N now with this video, I don't know what I m going to when the laptop eventually dies. Funnily enough, a lot of people think m crazy whenever i tell them that the LED PWM is making me sick n sensitive to light. This shows how small we really are. M in Nigeria, West Africa. Nice Job sir
Can you please try to put a matte screen protector on the phones you couldn't use? Maybe they will be decent with a screen protector like that
Thank you, screen protectors/filters doesn't work in this case.
@@MoeZainal ...then LCD is the way =]]]
Moe, I’m still having issues with my newly bought Xiaomi 14, which I purchased on your advice. I'm using it at the lowest brightness setting. Does the anti-flickering work at the lowest brightness, or should I increase it to mid-level? At what percentage should I set my phone's brightness for optimal performance without straining my eyes?
Did you enable the DC-Dimming feature?
@@MoeZainal Yes, I already enabled the DC dimming feature in the display settings by switching anti-flickering from regular. However, it’s still straining my eyes. When I use my iPhone 11, I don’t experience any discomfort at all.
I remember getting slight eye strain when I was setting up the device, but when I finally was able to enable DC-Dimming the strain went away the next day. How long has it been since you have enabled the anti-flicker option?
@@MoeZainal It's been two days since I started using the phone. I used it for roughly three hours yesterday, and my eyes were straining a lot. Hopefully, my eyes will adjust to the device as time passes. I had great expectations that it would not strain my eyes, but I am quite disappointed at the moment. I hope that it will improve. I wanted to ask you: I have been using the phone at zero brightness. Should I increase it to 50% or beyond, or should I turn on auto brightness so that the anti-flicker will work?
Perhaps it's a matter of adjusting, do you know how long does it usually take until your pwm headaches goes away? I keep my phone on auto-brightness
I bought a Xiaomi 14 yesterday and turned on anti-flicker, but it still hurts my eyes. The iPhone 11 is still the best device to use.
What about SE 2022?
@@seekerofsense The SE 2022 and the iPhone 11 both have the same Retina display, which is an LCD, and neither strains the eyes.
@@Khelahobe-rx2emthank you for this.
I was thinking of buying a new phone to replace my 2018 LG G7 w/ IPS LCD. It's worrying that you could be wasting money on tech that makes you suffer with use. 😮
The honor 200 pro should be even better 🎉
Thanks for the video. It’s seems not many top tech creators want to cover this issue.
you can enable this option too in your realme device by using devloper option 😉
Chinese phone companies, don't have this issue, because any phone from them hsa at least (2000) pwm rate , and that's don't effect on us . BTW Samsung, apple... Etk , their phones maximum pwm rate it's (230 )
Thank you, which laptop do you recommend?
Dude thank you so much for covering this topic. I have the same nokia for years bc i cant update to a new phone. Hopefully they'll make changes soon. Have you found anything new that works?
I am currently using Xiaomi 14 global version, it has a DC-Dimming anti-flicker option for the display.
Right now best phone in PWM dimming phone is Honor magic 6 pro, i recently switched from S24 ultra, its a definatly great device for eyes..after lot a drama with my working at nights schedule, my eyes are getting more fatigue and strain. After switching to 6 pro i am seeing progress.. hopefully this will help.
Thanks for the update. Do you have recommendations for laptops? I'm getting confused with all the different options; for example, anti glare, anti-reflective, and glossy and figuring out which is best for PWM sensitivity.
Glad it helps! These won't make a difference if the screen uses PWM Dimming to control the brightness, find a laptop with an LCD IPS display.
how to fix shim on poco f4 gt? Unreal for using...
Was in a store today, the anti flicker is not available on the 14 ultra. Also not to be found in the developers settings.
i am sure that dc dimming is automatically enabled on lower brightness because i am having no headaches or eye strain. i think xiaomi 14 ultra is best for me. perfect phone
Does the ultra have the anti flicker setting as well?
@@smitjee it automatically enables this anti flicker in low brightness
It's wild to me that these big tech companies aren't addressing this issue or making a feature to change the pmw setting. I just stumbled upon this while doing research as to why my brand new ipad was giving me migraines. I just bought a ipad pro 11" 4th gen to use for graphic design. Worked on the illustrator application on the ipad for about 2 hours and had a terrible migraine for about 5 hours after putting the ipad away. The following day I decided to use the ipad outside on my porch (thinking that maybe being inside in dim light was the issue) and after about 30 minutes of use I could feel my head starting to hurt again. As I walked back inside I felt terrible motion sickness and dizziness. I'm trying to get over the fact that I spent about $1,000 on something that I can't even use due to this issue.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Well said, it's unfortunate that big tech are not paying attention to this matter while Chinese brands like Xiaomi are integrating solutions such as adding a DC-Dimming anti-flicker toggle in the display settings. Why can't Apple and Samsung do the same?
Xiaomi 14 series is known for the foggy/condensation lens issue which is widespread across all continents where they're sold. Plenty of videos and people complaining about this hardware fault on forums as well. How is yours holding up?
I heard that too. Humidity in my country is around 47% today, and I still did not face this problem. I faced it once with my Sony A7III with the 24-105 lens, the photography equipment was in a AC controlled environment and went out to shoot early in the morning, the lens fogged up and I had to wait for it to go away. I suppose it could happen when you have big glasses. But I still did not have this issue with my Xiaomi 14.
Try to enable extra dim, eye care, and reduce brightness. I think white colors on oleds annoy me the most. On Samsung I am able to make night mode much stronger than on moto
im also very sensitive to pwm, currently iphone 11 and iphone SE is healthy for pwm sensitive user like me...tried many but yet to find one android ips/amoled that doesnt give me headache and migraine...will look into xiaomi 14
Xiaomi’s 12.4” 6s Pro is also fully DC dimmed. Forget the iPAD Pro OLEDs and protect your eyes.
any solution for samsung odyssey OLED gaming monitor?
I would love to try a Xiaomi phone. Been using Samsung and there screens are very harsh on my eyes.
Thank you for pointion out this problem, I remember one time I picked up an S9 or S8, and my eyes started hurting as soon as I looked at it, glad that it got better, but I don't think that I will try out oled screens ever again.
I noticed that all Xiaomi devices have this option, but it is hidden in some of them. You can find the anti-flicker option in the "activity launcher" program in the settings section, and that number will take you to this hidden section.
Thank you for pointing this one out, it's odd that they hide such an important feature.
For the 14 ultra as well?
@@smitjee :o
?
Hey , thanks for doing the video , i am in similar situation , cant really use any latest OLED phones due to PWM , have u tried oneplus 12? seems to have higher pwm freq
Hey, glad you have found it useful! I unfortunately didn't get the chance to try the OnePlus 12.
@@MoeZainal not sure why its so hard for apple to provide an accessibility option when they are so concerned with health and environment
@@navneeta3Cause they just pretending to be concerned.
Same thing happens to me. Got a DELL U2724DE. Bad eyestrain. Same with an Iphone X, I got as emergency phone. It would be great to have a comprehensive list of "safe" monitors. I do not know what to buy and I need to sit in front of a monitor for 8 hours a day. I am really desperate.
thx lord
Thanks so much for the video! I already knew about this but seeing it really being talked about! I am using an iPhone 13 and have from childhood suffered from strong headaches, and I’m of course always using night shift (I wonder why Apple doesn’t even let it being put on always but in time intervals, smh) but it has a very low PWM dimming and I may be starting to feel the consequences. Thanks for the video!
Glad you have found it useful, we are trying to spread awareness and hopefully Apple and Samsung would listen so we don't have to suffer.
Hey. Things are turning out pretty interesting for me. I used the samsung z fold 5 phone for 4 days and it didn't give me a headache, but many people complained about it. I bought the Honor Magic v2 phone a few days ago, it has 3850 pwm eye protection, but after 3 minutes I get such a headache that I go crazy... I was thinking that it is not because of some blue light? I can't find a solution to this Oled problem... I have already returned about 10 phones.
I guess you will have to try the Xiaomi 14 with DC-Dimming enabled. I hope it works for you.
Will you be looking at the new Poco F6 Pro?
So if u position the car w/ the sun behind it how do u not get any glare or unnecessary contrast
At certain angles you will get flares, that's why I am shooting the car from the side, I also use a lens hood.
@MoeZainal so I'm starting a new journey with photography, but the company I'm working for uses tablets, so I don't have the luxury of using a lens hood.
I’m using iPhone 11 with no problem and it’s good for eyes . And I tried to upgrade to 15 plus , you can’t believe I cannot stare at it for 1 minute also my eyes burnt like anything as a result of which I’m planning to sell it at loss. In 3 months I used it for less than 12 hours of entire purchase. I want to know if Xiomi 14 will help me or not ?
I was thinking of switching to ios for my next phone because of the screen problem, my initial plan was galaxy ultra, didn't know iphones have a similar problem 😢
Honor magic 6 pro, is also a flagship phone has high pmw dimming 👌
I noticed the pmw modulation, it can be distracting to me , but I don’t let it annoy me bc anything at all that annoys me gives me a headache
Great video 👍. You forgot to mention that Samsung is actually the screen manufacturer behind many other brands such as iPhones.
You are absolutely right. Thank you!
Very nice ... Finally you found a solution.. thanks for such a detailed video !
You are welcome, glad you have found it useful.
Good move by Xiaomi, but still too expensive for users like me. I once used a Samsung A50s before, it was so horrible that I feel like I have lenses in my eyes
@moezainal hi moe what tv are u using please?
I just checked, it's a 2019 Samsung 65RU7105 4K UHD Smart Television 65inch
@@MoeZainal does it not hurt ur eyes, why did u pick that one ?
@rickymayo3695 it's an LCD with LED backlit panel. It doesn't hurt my eyes, I believe it uses DC-Dimming.
@@MoeZainal thanks alot moe
You are welcome, I strongly suggest researching new TVs, type of screen, pwm, and pwm frequencies. Mine is fairly old, 5 years or so, I am sure tech has changed since then.
So would switching to a qled be better than Oled ?
Flickering is bad on the eyes. Why would they do this? And why not offer a setting for it? Pathetic. My new iPhone 15 is now in my drawer. Can’t use it.
I agree, there should be an entity regulating screen technology, certifying displays.
Are u use matte screen guard u use tht
@@SaudAhmad-n2o I don’t think that will help. It’s the flickering that affects us.
great video, which carrier are you using for the phone?
Thank you! A local carrier in Bahrain
